About Us
The year 2014, a few Committee Members of Akhila Karnataka Brahmana Mahasabha came forward with a brilliant idea of providing a hostel facility for girl students of who come from an economically weaker background and are from across the state of Karnataka. The objective was to provide a safe and secure place to stay for all those girl students who aspired to continue their education in the big city of Bengaluru. And this how our hostel Vidya Vasini Vipra Mahila Vasathi Nilaya (VVVMN) came into being.
The funds initially came from the savings out of Sammelanas conducted during that period which amounted to One Crore. Using this fund as the base, 30,000 sqft of land was acquired with the efforts of Sri. MRV Prasad during the tenure of the then Chief Minister Sri. H.D. Kumaraswamy. Built to accommodate around 175 students and working women, this hostel has all the amenities reqd to make the stay comfortable and affordable.
To raise funds for the hostel building, the then Committee Members Sri. BNV. Subrahmanya(President), Sri.D.S. Honnappa (Treasurer) and Sri H.N. Hiriannaswamy took upon themselves to tour the entire state of Karnataka several times. They brought together many Brahmin Association, influential and successful people to contribute to the building fund. Each of the existing rooms in the hostel tell a story of the contributions made by individual families in the name of their parents, which is etched on a granite stone in front of the respective rooms.
